Please join The People Concern, FlyawayHomes, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and Councilmember Joe Buscaino as we break ground on our newest supportive housing community, 82nd Street, on Friday, January 25 at 8:30 a.m.
This new 16-unit community, located in South Los Angeles, will include wrap-around services provided by The People Concern that will provide residents with access to resources including case management, helping ensure that residents make and keeps critical appointments, set and attain short and long-term goals, manage expenses on a very limited budget, participate in agency-offered wellness activities including smoking cessation classes and nutrition guidance, and adapt to their new environment. Agency staff also provide in-home medical care, mental health care, and substance use services.
Permanent housing participants who receive these services achieve impressive results: 98% retain their housing for longer than one year, which is substantially higher than national averages.
